Topic: Prospect Research for Planned Giving

Prospect research for planned giving prospects remains an underdeveloped skill and practices set for most institutions. In spite of the fact that planned gifts represent middle-to-top of the pyramid gifts, interest in proactive research is often discouraged by competition for limited resources and the pressing need for current gifts. This session will help you to change your organizational perspective on planned giving research.

This session will:

  • Discuss the basics of planned giving and the characteristics of planned giving donors
  • Describe available tools for identifying planned giving prospects
  • Identify areas of planned giving research that overlap annual and major giving research
